Live Workshop FAQ
Commonly asked questions about the Live Zoom workshops from Epida Studio.
What's the difference between the Zoom workshops and the courses?
The Zoom workshops are taught live online. You will be working on your project at home along with other registered students. The on-demand video courses are pre-recorded and you can watch these on your own schedule.
How do I access the workshop?
When you register for the workshop, you will receive a PDF with more information. The week before the workshop date, you will receive the Zoom link. On the date of the workshop, simply click the link to join.
What technology do I need?
You need to be able to join the Zoom workshop to participate. You can use a computer, phone, tablet, etc. You will need to have a microphone and camera so that you can ask questions and share your work.
Are the workshops recorded?
These workshops are not recorded, so you don't need to worry about privacy concerns. If you would like to be able to access the instruction later, you can get a significant discount on the related on-demand video course.
What if I miss it?
If you miss a workshop, I am unable to offer a refund. If I am forced to cancel a workshop due to emergency or technical issues, I will give you a refund and a replacement workshop of your choice.
Will I just be watching you sew?
My workshops are designed to be hands on. After a brief introduction, we will jump into the project that you will be making. You are able to get immediate help if you have a question or problem.
How big are the classes?
I want to mimic an in-person class as much as possible, so I cap the classes at 15 students. Whenever possible, I encourage the students to keep their microphones and cameras on so that we can talk as we are sewing.
When time permits, I am happy to answer questions unrelated to the class, so often there are little "bonus lessons" based on student interest.
How long are the sessions?
The sessions are between 2 and 5 hours long. Some workshops have multiple sessions (eg. three 2 hour sessions).
Do we get a break?
Once we start working on the project, everyone will be working at their own pace. I help people individually, so you don't need to worry about keeping up with the class (or being held back). Anytime you need to take a break, have a snack, take out the dog or anything else, you can do that. When you get back to the class, I will pick up with you where you left off. You don't need to worry about missing anything.
Can I take the class with a friend?
You are encouraged to take a workshop with a friend. If you are both in the same location and sharing the same camera, you both still need to be registered.
